Dr. Yiannis Panayiotopoulos is a consultant vascular and general surgeon at Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford, Essex. He was appointed there 8 years ago aiming to bring vascular services in mid-Essex, something that he achieved quite quickly and efficiently. The NHS unit accepts a growing number of referrals from other areas and the number of vascular cases per consultant performed is amongst the top in the UK.

He has three degrees [MD, MS, PhD] from 3 different universities, more that 150 medical publications and he is author of 3 medical books.

He was the first consultant one to be awarded a discretionary award for results beyond excellence at mid-Essex Hospitals.

He is also the surgeon who is behind the renal dialysis unit and is responsible for access procedures at mid-Essex.

He is strongly involved in research and new technologies and is currently engaged in designing a new medical instrument for the treatment of varicose veins and publishing a book about surgical anatomy with illustrations of his own.

Dr D H Punnyadasa

Dr. D H Punnyadasa is a vascular/interventional radiologist with more than 20 years experience on the field. His results on SFA angioplasty were recently audited and were found to be among the top in the country. He is also an accomplished radiologist with deep knowledge and experience in all aspects of his specialty.

Dr Mohamed Badran

Dr Mohamed Badran is also a vascular/interventional radiologist who is extremely interested in stent-grafting of arteries [endoluminal approaches].

David King & Miss Luisa Gorton

David King is a vascular technician with 40 years of experience in haemodynamics. He is the head of the vascular lab at Broomfield Hospital and he is one of the most experienced sonographers in the UK in both arterial and venous non-invasive assessment. He is also a pioneer in research and applied technology, as the Quick scan device [Hantley diagnostics] is his own creation. He is currently involved in a project to establish a 3-D scan imaging for vascular conditions.

Miss Luisa Gorton is an accredited vascular technician with significant experience in all types of vascular non-invasive assessment. She is also a full member of the VSVT.

Mr. Joseph Mathai is the Associate Specialist in Vascular and general Surgery, serving at Broomfield Hospital for the last 14 years. His surgical experience is tremendous, as he performs more than 20 surgical procedures weekly with audited excellent results. He is also the one involved in cosmetic treatment of thread veins.

Dr Mark Alexander-Williams and Dr Hywell Jones are the anaesthetists providing anaesthesia in most hospitals, while Dr Carol McCartney provides anaesthesia at Broomfield Hospital. They are all registered with most insurance companies.
